Box Butte General Hospital would like to officially welcome Dr. Edward Stevenson, Ophthalmologist, to the team of providers.
As an ophthalmologist, Dr. Stevenson performs medical and surgical treatments for eye conditions, which is different than what an optometrist does. Optometrists perform routine eye exams and are able to diagnose and treat patients’ eyes but refer patients to ophthalmologists for more complex or extensive issues as needed.
Some conditions Dr. Stevenson treats include glaucoma, cataracts, retina treatment, uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye), and more. He will see patients at Webb Eyecare for appointments, and then perform surgeries at BBGH. Patients should schedule appointments through Webb Eyecare, by calling 308-762-3124. He is now accepting new patients.
Dr. Stevenson says his practice philosophy “Incorporates functional medicine principles and a proactive approach to risk management. Our goal is to improve and maintain your vision to contribute to your overall wellbeing and empower you with an understanding of your condition and wellness plan.” He also remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of his field by continually exploring the cutting-edge research and treatments available. Although new to the BBGH team, he has practiced ophthalmology for the last 8 years and is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.
One thing Dr. Stevenson wants patients to know is, “My mission is to empower patients by providing a comprehensive understanding of their conditions and informed choices, enabling them to take an active role in their healthcare decisions.”
Outside of work you might see Dr. Stevenson biking, playing soccer with his kids, cooking, or eating croissants (he says, “yeah, it’s a hobby!”).
